NHSA ANNUAL NATIONAL COMPETITION EXERCISES & TARGETS

CORRECT SCORING OF TARGETS



1.    Only a Target specifically marked as, National Competition, which you can download from the Competitions Page from a member's Natshoot Member Portal may be used for participation in the National Competition.  Targets for the Annual National Competition will be available for download under the specific year's competition page on your Natshoot Portal from 17:00 on 31 August annually.

2.    Only exercise specific Targets may be entered for a specific exercise a competitor partakes in for the National Competition. You MAY NOT use a Target for an exercise you want to compete in, which is not specifically marked for that specific exercise.

3.    Competition Targets MAY NOT be used to log scores for In-House Postal Target Shooting or for purposes of Sport Shooting, Target Practice Activity submissions and will be automatically declined if so submitted.  Competition  targets may only be used for competition purposes and for nothing else.

4.    Approved competition targets (with exception of Air Pistols and Air Rifles from 5,5mm and below), will count towards maintenance of Dedicated Status and will reflect on a member's Activity & Scores Report as a sport shooting activity. 

5.    Competition Target Scores will count towards a member's Marksman Grading.

PRECISION HANDGUN SHOOTING EXERCISE RULES AND TARGETS

Air Pistols

10m, Air Pistol Exercise:  Air Pistols in Calibres 4.5mm ; 5mm ; 5,5mm ;  5,6mm, with maximum calibre allowed, 6,35mm Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered)

.22 Rimfire Handguns

5m, .22 Rimfire Snubby / Pocket Pistol Exercise:  Only Handguns in .22 Rimfire Calibres .22S, .22LR or .22Mag - Semi-auto Pistols of which the barrel is no longer than 100mm and the grip below the trigger guard is no longer than 80mm OR - Centre-Fire Single / Double Action Revolvers of which the barrel is no longer than 90mm and the grip below the trigger guard is no longer than 80mm (See Box fit HERE) - only fixed metallic sights allowed (1 Target may be entered)

8m, .22 Rimfire Box-Gun Exercise:  Only Handguns in .22 Rimfire Calibres (.22S, .22LR or .22Mag) - handgun to fit in a rectangle of 200mm [L] & 160mm [H]) (See box fit HERE) Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered).

10m, .22 Rimfire Handgun Exercise:  Only Handguns in .22 Rimfire Calibres (.22S, .22LR or .22Mag) (1 Target may be entered)

Centre-Fire Handguns

5m, Centre-Fire Snubby / Pocket Pistol Exercise: All Centre-Fire Handgun Calibres - Semi-auto Pistols of which the barrel is no longer than 95mm and the grip below the trigger guard is no longer than 80mm OR - all Centre-Fire Single / Double Action Revolvers of which the barrel is no longer than 77mm and the grip below the trigger guard is no longer than 80mm (See Box fit HERE) - only fixed metallic sights allowed  (1 Target may be entered)

8m, Centre-Fire Box-Gun Exercise:  Centre-Fire Handgun Calibres up to maximum 10mm & 40 S&W, in Handguns of which the whole frame, sights, and grip, fits into a rectangle of 210mm [L] x 160mm [H]   (See box fit HERE) Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered).   

10m, Medium-Bore Centre-Fire Handgun Exercise:  Centre-fire Handguns in calibres below 10mm bullet diameter, i.e., .22 Hornet to .38 Special, .357 Mag, 9mmS & 9mmP Any type of sight (2 Targets in different calibres of criteria may be entered)

10m, Large-Bore Centre-Fire Handgun Exercise:  Centre-fire Handguns in calibres from 10mm bullet diameter and larger, i.e., .40S&W, 10mm, .44 Mag & 45ACP up to .50cal Any type of sight (2 Targets in different calibres of criteria may be entered)

Air Rifles
25m, Air Rifles Exercise:  Air Rifles in Calibres 4.5mm ; 5mm ; 5,5mm ;  5,6mm, with maximum calibre allowed, 6,35mm Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered)

.22 Rimfire Rifles

50m, All Action .22 Rimfire Rifle Exercise:   Only Rimfire Rifles in .22S, .22LR & .22 Mag calibres - any type of action allowed Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered)

High Power Rimfire & Small, Small-Bore Centre-Fire Rifles

100m, High-Power Rimfire & Small, Small-Bore Centre-Fire Rifles Exercise:  Only Rimfire Rifles chambered for .22 WMR, .17 WSM & .17 HMR or similar OR  Small, Small-Bore Centre-fire Rifles chambered for .17 REM, .17 Hornet and similar calibres  Any type of sight (1 Target may be entered)

Centre Fire Rifles

100m, Small-bore Centre-Fire Rifles Exercise:  All Action Centre-fire Rifles in Calibres with a bullet diameter of less than 7mm, i.e.  .204 Ruger, .222Rem, .22 Hornet, .223/5,56mm, .243, 6mm, 243Win, 25-06, 6.5x55, 6.5 Creedmoor Any type of sight (2 Targets in different calibres fitting the calibre criteria may be entered)

100m, Medium-bore Centre-Fire Rifles Exercise:  - All Action Centre-fire Rifles in Calibres with a bullet diameter from 7mm but less than 8mm, i.e. .270 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, .308Win, 30-06Spr, .300 Win Mag. .300 H&H, .303 Br Any type of sight  (2 Targets in different calibres fitting the calibre criteria may be entered)

100m, Large-bore Centre-Fire Rifles Exercise:  - All Action Centre-fire Rifles in Calibres with a bullet diameter of 8mm and larger, i.e. 8x68, 8,86S & 8x57JS, .338 Lapua  and .338 Win Mag, all 9,3 calibres and all .375 Calibres up to 700 Nitro and .50 Calibres Any type of sight  (2 Targets in different calibres fitting the calibre criteria may be entered).

200m, Centre-Fire Rifles Exercise: - All Action Centre-fire Rifles chambered for a bullet diameter from .204 Ruger to .50 Calibres Any type of sight  (2 Targets in different calibres fitting the calibre criteria may be entered).

50m, Centre-Fire Pistol Calibre Lever Action Rifles Exercise:  Lever Action Rifles in all Typical Centre-fire Handgun calibres including the .45-70 Government  Any type of sight  (1 Target may be entered)

50m, Centre-Fire Rife Calibre Lever Action Rifles Exercise:   Lever Action Rifles in all Typical Centre-fire Rifle from .30-30 calibre and higher Centre-fire calibres Any type of sight  (1 Target may be entered)

Pistol Calibre Semi-Auto Rifles

25m & 25m, Pistol Calibre Centre-Fire Semi-Auto Rifles Exercise:  Any typical centre-fire pistol calibre, i.e. 9mmP, .40 S&W, .45 ACP Any type of sight  (Score Sheet plus 1 set of A & B Targets may be entered)

Rifle Calibre Semi-Auto Rifles

25m & 50m, .20 Cal (223) Centre-Fire Semi-Auto Rifles Exercise:  Centre-fire calibres below the so-called 30 calibres – i.e.  5.45 x 39mm, .223 Rem. = 5.56, .243 Win., .270 Win., .270 WSM, 6.8mm Rem. SPC, 7mm WSM  Any type of sight  (Score Sheet plus 1 set of A & B Targets may be entered)    

25m & 50m, .30 Cal (7,62) Centre-Fire Semi-Auto Rifles Exercise:  Centre-fire calibres from and above the so-called 30 calibres – i.e.  .300 Win. Mag, 300 WSM, 7.62x39mm, .308 Win. = 7.62x51mm, .30-06, .35 Whelen Any type of sight  (Score Sheet plus 1 set of A & B Targets may be entered)
