The Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill: The risks to conservation, rights and livelihoods

The UK Parliament recently decided to initiate a legal process of stopping the import of hunting trophies into the UK.  Purportedly because animal rights groups have falsely declared that trophy hunting has decimating large numbers of wild game species all over the world.


Yet trophy hunting is not a threat to ANY species, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) “Red List of Threatened Species” (the globally recognised authority on the conservation status of the world’s wild species).  So concludes an impressive international list of highly qualified wildlife and natural scientists with track records of successfully working in the field of wildlife management all over the world, but specifically in southern African countries.
