ALTERNATIVE LEGAL OPINION ON POSSESSION OF MORE THAN 200 ROUNDS OF AMMO
Dear Member,
Our Newsletters Vol. 12(15) , Vol. 12(16) & Vol.12(27) have reference.
There is a difference in the legal interpretation of Section 91 of the FCA (Act 60 of 2000), which refers to the possession of more than 200 rounds of ammo per licensed firearm one holds.
Adv GPR van Rooyen, a valued NHSA member, has presented an opposing legal position to those legal opinions presented by the legal scholars in the Newsletters mentioned above.
The real legal answer to this question will probably only be obtained in a court of law, a process which NHSA can unfortunately not pursue as we just don't have that kind of funding available.
Members are advised that they must please form their own opinion on the two presented legal positions, and act according to the position they believe to be the correct one.
Members can read the legal opinion of Adv van Rooyen on this matter HERE
Kind Regards
