AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS ATTACHED TO LICENCE APPLICATIONS

Dear Member

We have received a letter from our legal representative who informs us that SAPS have unilaterally changed rules for authentication of documents.

In short, it entails that CFR is sending back applications with authenticated stamps on documents if the date on which the authentication is signed by the commissioner of oaths, is not part of the stamp (i.e., the date is written in by hand).

In order for you to be spared this inconvenience (until SAPS accepts ordinary legal authentications),  Mr Kotze's advice is to let all documents you want to attach to licence and/or competency applications, be authenticated at the police station where you hand in your applications as SAPS authentication stamps have the date in the stamp.

Mr Kotze's letter to Natshoot in this regard, can be read HERE

Kind Regards
