POPI ACT AND NATSHOOT

Dear Member,

In terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (Act 4 of 2013), also called the POPI Act or POPIA, which comes into effect on 1 July 2021, Natshoot needs its members’ consent to store and process their personal information.   As an association we have to be legally compliant.

We would like to assure you that Natshoot treats your personal information with the utmost of privacy.  We shall not share any of a member’s personal information with anyone other than in cases of legally proven requirements as per Statute or Regulation.

However, for us to run and responsibly manage Natshoot and to be able to communicate with our members, we need to store and process member’s personal information, which may include: Initials, Surname, Address, Phone Numbers, Email Address and ID nr.

The new requirements op POPIA coming into effect on 1 July 2021, requires Natshoot to obtain the  consent of all our members that we my store the personal information we have of you as are portrayed on your Member Portal.

If you’d wish to cancel your membership, please send an email to [email protected] and inform us accordingly, in writing. Include your name, surname, ID no and reason for cancellation.

Please keep in mind that if you have dedicated status and you wish to terminate your membership because of the new requirements of POPIA, that there might be legal implications to your firearm licences and applications. Please refer to the following section on the website in this regard

If any of your personal information as mentioned above, e.g., phone number, address etc. has changed since completing your application for membership, please login to your member portal here to update your information.

Should we hear nothing from you by 10 July 2021, we will assume that you are happy with the status quo and that you agree that you have submitted the information as per your application, willingly, and that the information submitted is accurate (meaning that your membership will continue as per normal).

We apologize for the nature of this message, but as indicated we have no other option than to ask you, our valued member, these kinds of questions in order to ascertain that Natshoot remains legally compliant.
