LOCKDOWN RENEWAL OF LICENCES: EXAMPLE LETTER TO NATIONAL COMMISSIONER FOR EXTENSION OF SUBMISSION DATE

Dear Member,

We are aware that SAPS accepts applications for renewal of firearm licences within the 90 days before the licence lapses (but not after the licence has expired).

Members must please let the office know if their applications for renewal within the 90 days before licence lapsing date, are not accepted by their DFO.

However, if you would want to remain on the very safe side, you can apply for approval to submit your renewal application after the lockdown if the 90 days of your renewal falls within the dates of the lockdown.

Such an application must be directed at the National Commissioner of Police at the following Email address:

Genl. K.J. Sithole, National Commissioner of Police (in his capacity as Registrar of Firearms) - By Email:   [email protected]
