ASCERTAIN THE FIREARM YOU BUY IS CAPTURED ON THE CFR SYSTEM
Dear member,
Please make sure the specific firearm you buy from any dealer is captured on the CFR database against the dealer’s name before you make any payment to the dealer for that firearm.
Let the dealer show you that the specific firearm is captured on the CFR system against his/her name and that s/he has paper work confirming that.
CFR is very bad in logging dealer returns and it is happening more frequently that dealers send in their returns, with CFR taking up to two months and more to log the firearms against the dealer's name.
If the firearm is not captured on the CFR system against the dealer’s name, DFOs refuse to take in applications, saying the specific firearm is not on the CFR system and s/he cannot take our member's application before the firearm is captured on the CFR system against the dealer’s name.
Members are then required to run around between the dealer and the CFR to try and get the specific firearm correctly captured on the CFR system so that his/her application can be accepted.
IT is not our member's responsibility to do this !!
The least dealers can do is to ascertain the specific firearm they sell to our member is captured against their name on the CFR system.
So, spare yourselves lots and lots of frustration by ascertaining that the specific firearm you want to buy is captured on the CFR system against the dealer’s name before you make any payment (dealers are, rightly or wrongly, reluctant to pay back money).
Keep safe!
