NHSA ON PROPOSED BAN OF LEAD-BASED HUNTING AMMUNITION IN EASTERN CAPE IN 2019
Dear Member,
We have with some concern taken notice of the proposed ban on the use of lead-based hunting ammunition in the Eastern Cape, as is stated in their Draft 2019 hunting proclamation.
We have thus written the relevant Eastern Cape nature conservation officials in this regard.
In our letter we request that they please enter into negotiations with the organised hunting fraternity in the country, before publishing the 2019 Eastern Cape hunting proclamation with inclusion of the section on the banning of lead-based hunting ammunition.
If the proposed 2019 Eastern Cape hunting proclamation should be published in the government gazette in its current format, still containing the section on the banning of lead-based hunting ammunition, we believe that such a hunting proclamation will then, at least in part, constitute ill-founded law.
You can read our letter addressed to the relevant Eastern Cape nature conservation official in this regard HERE
The document presented to the Hunters Forum in 2016, which is attached to the letter to the Eastern Cape nature conservation on this matter, is also attached to the NHSA Newsletter referred to in the paragraph below.
Members are referred to our Newsletter Vol. 12(28) dated 21 April 2016, in which we comprehensively state the NHSA position against the banning of the use of lead-based ammunition, be that for hunting or for sport shooting.
The Eastern Cape's Draft 2019 hunting proclamation can be read HERE.
Please remain vigilant and safe !
